Penn State Football Coach Joe Paterno to Retire the End of This Season

Amid the recent child abuse scandal that has rocked my alma mater Penn State during the last week or so, iconic football coach Joe Paterno will retire at the end of the season.
Many have been calling for his resignation after news broke that his former assistant had molested and/or sodomized several young boys on Penn State grounds. One incident even occurred where the assistant was witnessed having sex with a eight-year-old boy.
Notification was given to Paterno, who did not report the incident to police but made several PSU administrators aware of the happening. As a result the assistant pretty much received nothing more than a slap on the wrist and was still allowed to hang around campus, the football program and use both to lure and rape young boys.
The amount of victims in the case has risen to 20 young boys.
It’s a shame JoePa had to go out like this but either way you look at it, if he were a little more vocal in making sure his former assistant was punished the first time then the 19 other victims could have been spared.
